NEXT REP

Supporting Athletes in the Next Chapter of Life

Research shows that stepping away from competition can be surprisingly challenging and often brings a loss of identity.

By joining Next Rep, athletes will experience the power of a team-driven community, reflect on who they want to become beyond their sport, and set purposeful goals to achieve their next “rep” in life — whatever it may be.

Does any of this resonate?

✓ Wtf is happening, and why didn’t anyone tell me it would be like this?

✓ I got injured, and now my athletic career is over.

✓ What am I supposed to be doing now?

✓ I don’t feel motivated anymore.

✓ I just graduated and am not really sure what I’m doing or who I am anymore.

✓ I graduated a few years ago, and I’m still not really sure what I’m doing.

✓ Should I still be working out twice a day?

✓ Where’d all of my teammates go?

MEET YOUR COACHES

HEY, I’M ABBIE.

I’ve been coaching, advising, and mentoring current and former athletes for 15 years. I earned my Master of Applied Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania in 2022, in order to better understand how I could integrate foundations of well-being into my work. Since then, I became a certified executive coach and also work with young adults and professionals as they navigate the workplace and their careers.

I’m a former elite rower who competed for the U19 National Team and then rowed at Yale, where I earned a silver medal in the 4+ at NCAAs. After graduating, I coached with the U19 Men’s and Women’s National Teams for six years, in addition to coaching for some of the top club programs in the country, including Connecticut Boat Club, Sarasota Crew, and RowAmerica Rye.

Even though I was still closely in touch with the sport, when I retired as an athlete, my entire identity was challenged. I didn't know who I was or what I was supposed to be doing, my social life was dismantled, and I really struggled. Because of that, I've helped my former athletes make the transition out of college athletics for years, and I'm thrilled to now be formalizing that process for a broader group - and offering athletes a community - with my co-lead coach, Brooke.

HI, I’M BROOKE.

I earned my Master of Counseling degree from Wake Forest University and launched a 15+ year career helping student-athletes and young professionals find their path to success. Most of my work has been in higher education, where I focus on career development, professional growth, and athletics, especially through one-on-one mentoring and coaching.

As a former elite-level gymnast, I competed on a full athletic scholarship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where I became the first gymnast to win an all-around conference title. By the time I graduated, I held four of the program’s top five individual records and was the first gymnast in school history to score a perfect 10.

Like many athletes, I struggled with the transition out of sport, grappling with identity, purpose, and balance. With the support of an incredible counselor, I found my way and went on to embrace new opportunities. Some of my proudest accomplishments post-athletics include becoming a mom, serving as a bone marrow donor, summiting Mt. Kilimanjaro, and producing a feature film that was licensed to Netflix.

I’m ecstatic to lead this group with Abbie and to support former athletes as they redefine who they are beyond college athletics.
